Over 40 years of experience in handling a wide spectrum of legal work, primarily in commercial and financing matters
Involved in China-related work since 1986 and played a key role in many clients’ projects
- Acted as lead legal counsel for foreign investors syndicate in the negotiation and bidding of the BOT project of Line No.2, Nanjing Mass Transit Railway (2003/2004)
- Acted as the vendor’s negotiating counsel in the sale of a telecom services business in China to a major international telecom corporation (2014/2015)
- Led the negotiating team for a client in respect of a US$200m transaction with a global leading private equity fund (2017)
- Advising on the successful restructuring of a high profile established retail brand of over three decades standing in Hong Kong
- Significantly engaged in trust work involving various jurisdictions for private clients since 2001, including acting as a member of enforcer committees/ family council / Protector
- Serves on the board of clients’ companies spanning across different industries in a non-executive capacity as well as on the enforcer committee of clients’ asset protection structures

Career
Mr. Chan started his legal career in 1980 as a court prosecutor at the Attorney General’s Chambers of the Hong Kong Government. He has worked in both international and local firms. He is currently in private practice at So, Lung & Associates.
